London Afrobeat Collective are an international family of musicians based in London, united by a passion for afrobeat and a drive to push it into new horizons. Featuring members from England, Italy, France, Congo, Argentina, and New Zealand, they blend afrobeat and highlife with funk, jazz, rock, Latin rhythms, and dub to create an uplifting, globally inspired sound.
Regulars on the UK and European touring circuit, they are celebrated for their high-energy live shows, powerful grooves, and socially conscious lyrics. They’ve ignited major stages including Glastonbury Festival (UK), the Shrine in Lagos (Nigeria), Imagina Funk (Spain), Fusion Festival (Germany), Cully Jazz (Switzerland), Tempo Latino (France), Earth Garden (Malta), Couleur Café (Belgium), Bardentreffen (Germany), and many more.
Inspired by Fela Kuti, Ebo Taylor, Parliament Funkadelic, and Havana d’Primera, their multilingual performances—sung in English, Spanish, Lingala, Yoruba, and French—connect with diverse audiences everywhere.
Their fourth album, Esengo (Canopy Records, February 14, 2024)—meaning Joy in Lingala—was produced by Grammy-winning producer Sonny Johns (Tony Allen & Hugh Masekela, Oumou Sangaré, Ali Farka Touré). The record features the single Topesa Esengo Na Motema (“Let’s Give Joy to the Heart”) and an afro-latin-disco remix by Bosq.
