Cheo (also known as José Luis Pardo) is an artist, guitarist, DJ, composer and music producer based in Brooklyn, New York; also known for his career as founder and director of the dance/funk band Los Amigos Invisibles.
Cheo has a Latin Grammy and has achieved ten other nominations (seven as an artist, three as a producer), leaving his mark and forging his own space in the dance music genre.
He has compiled an impressive body of work over the years, this is reflected in every work he does: studio recordings, live shows, DJ sets, remixes, compilation albums, mixtapes, podcasts, etc.
Pardo began his career as a DJ in Caracas, Venezuela around 1995, warming up his band’s shows. Club owners immediately took an interest in his eclectic taste and ability to fill the dance floor.
Soon after, Cheo had his own weekly residency (“Super Sancocho Variety”) that lasted over two years, and gave him the bug to do his own remixes and edits for his DJ Sets.
In 2001, he moved to New York with his band and soon became part of the city’s dance scene, landing opening slots at venues like Centrofly, Cielo, Shine and parties like Giant Step, PS-1 warm up series, Punchy and Roots.
His work caught the attention of legendary DJ producer Little Louie Vega, who took him under his wing and made him the guitarist on many of his remixes as well as his “Elements of Life” album. Blue Six, Nicodemus, Sir Piers and Dimitri de Paris started calling Pardo to add his flavor as a guitarist to their music.
Cheo holds monthly residencies in NY at Studio 151, Honeycomb Hi-fi lounge, Nublu and Santa Salsa and now also in Madrid at Tempo Club.
