With a résumé and discography like no other — including over a thousand production credits, hundreds of singles under renowned aliases like Joey Negro, and three UK Top 40 hits as Jakatta — Dave Lee is one of the most revered disco and house music producers in the world, defining each genre with a sound uniquely his own.
Lee is also a celebrated record collector who has transformed his passion for vinyl into a historic series of compilations. Starting with labels like BBE and Strut, he has, over the past decade, turned Z Records into one of the most respected reissue labels, with standout series like Under The Influence and Produced With Love, while continuing to use the label as a platform for his current productions — including his beloved live music project, Sunburst Band.
Last year, Lee released his most ambitious recording project to date: “Metamorphosis”, under the moniker AC Soul Symphony. Inspired by fond memories of the golden age of television and the soundtracks of his favorite childhood shows, Metamorphosis was born from a desire to spotlight strings and recreate the lush analog sounds of instrumental albums by Love Unlimited, MFSB, and the Salsoul Orchestra, recorded with a 20-piece orchestra at RAK Studios.
