SHUYA OKINO
Member of the famous Kyoto Jazz Massive duo, discovered by Gilles Peterson, alongside his brother Yoshi, Shuya Okino is a producer/curator who has made a major contribution to the development of jazz in Japan, pioneering Japanese Jazz Danse worldwidely. He is also the owner of The Room Club, in Shibuya, one of the most active spots promoting Jazz Club culture and Crossover music.
Besides his duo, Shuya Okino travels the world as a DJ, writing three best-selling books, What Makes a Good DJ, The First Book of Club Jazz et Filter Your Thinking for Success. After the solo album United Legends, Shuya released the Destiny LP in 2011 with the hits Thank You and Still In Love. Since 2015, Shuya Okino has revived the Kyoto Jazz brand under the name Sextet, releasing back-to-back magnificent albums with Spiritual and Straight Ahead Jazz influences in the spirit of the great Pharoah Sanders. Twenty years after their debut album Spirit Of The Sun, the two brothers finally released Kyoto Jazz Massive second album, Message From A New Dawn, in 2022, featuring renowned vibraphonist Roy Ayers and singer Vanessa Freeman.
And even more recently, a new live and studio collaboration with Parisian funk outfit Echoes Of (aka Jeroboam) has propelled KJM into an unexpected and exciting new era.
With the KJM EOANDO, released in 2025 and marking the 30th anniversary of Kyoto Jazz Massive, they sealed their destinies, touring Europe extensively and blending perfectly jazz funk, disco, afro beat, acid and broken jazz!
ATN
Etienne, better known as DJ ATN, is a renowned Parisian tastemaker and musical connoisseur, celebrated for spreading rare grooves and deep disco vibes across the city’s most iconic venues. As a long-time resident DJ and booker at the legendary NEW MORNING jazz club, he has played a key role in shaping its world-class music programming.
ATN is also one half of the dynamic duo Mochi Men, alongside acclaimed DJ and producer Young Pulse. Together, they deliver electrifying DJ sets, exclusive remixes, re-edits, original productions, and high-profile collaborations that have made waves on the global nu-disco and funk scene.
Beyond the decks, ATN has been instrumental in managing and developing the rising French funk sensation ECHOES OF — a powerhouse live band recognized for backing Kyoto Jazz Massive under their alias JÉROBOAM. Signed to Danilo Plessow’s esteemed label SPACE GRAPES, the band is gaining international attention for its raw energy and vintage-inspired sound.
