Fronted by Melbourne-born, Berlin-based drummer and producer Ziggy Zeitgeist, Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange channels the pure, unfiltered essence of expression through their music. Driven by exceptional musical talent and a desire to create an authentic and intoxicating listening experience, they have secured their status as one of the most compelling live acts on the club circuit. They deliver their fifth full-length, “Inspire / Radicalise,” harnessing the raw power of their distinctive “hi-tech jazz” sound (i.e., jazz designed to light up the club). Throughout its creation, the team utilized a familiar palette of materials, seeking out those vintage and rare music-making machines, combining a variety of percussion and drums with the new addition of electric guitar as the band ventures into disco and highlife-inspired territories alongside old friends and collaborators such as Lewis Moody (Energy Exchange Records), Szabolcs Bognar (Abase), Eric Owusu (Jemba Groove), and Tom Varrall (Jamie Cullum), who form the main rhythm section, alongside a considerable list of guest appearances (such as Oscar Jerome and Tom Driessler), making this the most ambitious and diverse incarnation of ZFEX to date, with influences ranging from Dilla to Kraftwerk, Fela Kuti, and Drexciya.
